The administrator and the president of the Tajumuco Cooperative near the Mexican border welcome us with a coffee of their own production and invite us to a tour of their facilities.
We are interested in projects initiated by USAID (2018 - 2022) that are now threatened because with the current crisis it is difficult to finance all personnel and production costs - in this case of pure water.

Application for the Drinking Water Project
of the Cooperative Tajumuco
The Drinking Water Project for the Cooperative Tajumuco R.L. was implemented at the beginning of 2020 with the support of Fedecocagua and USAID within the framework of the Cadena de Valor del Café project. Its objective is to provide the opportunity for families of low-income members to consume healthy water at affordable. It must be remembered that in rural areas the population often does not have running water in their homes.
Since the USAID project is finished and Fedecocagua is currently unable to support us due to the legal issue caused by political persecution, the Cooperative is currently struggling with financial problems. This means that we cannot make the investments necessary to treat the water. What we need most right now is a generator, because the public power supply often fails for various reasons, meaning we cannot use the system for hours or days. We hope that action 365 can support us in this complicated situation and make this very important project sustainable in the medium and long term.
Action 365's grant will be $3,750.00 for the purchase of a generator, the Cooperative's counterpart will be $2,835.00, or 20% of the salary for three employees for one year.
